Chalmers Guitars Repair Terms of Service.
1. Instruments without a case MAY not be accepted for work. Our space is limited and it is difficult to store a caseless guitar. A hard case is preferable over a soft case or gig bag. Chalmers Guitars will not be responsible for any damage to an instrument due to insufficient protection or no case.
2. A Basic setup can only be as good as the current condition of your frets will allow. I can not get your action “as low as it can go” without a fret level unless your guitar has recently been Plek’d or had a fret level. If you want the best playing guitar please consider our fret level services.
3. I cannot provide accurate estimates on the phone or via text unless quoting a job that has a standard rate listed on the repair price list. Ex: Setup.
4. After thorough inspection and evaluation of an instrument, I will provide an estimate for the work we’ve agreed upon. I do my best to stick to that estimate but in some cases that is not always possible. In these instances, I will contact you to approve any additional work or costs if it is going to be 20% more than the total bill. Please take a look at my services page to acquaint yourself with my repair rates for certain services. I charge $90 per/hr for most work.
5. I require that you leave your instrument with me to be worked on. For example, you cannot check it in for repair, then bring it back in a week, all the while reserving your place in line. This policy helps me be as efficient as possible, and is fair to all clients.
6. Some parts needed for repair must be paid for in advance.
7. For jobs estimated at $200 and above, a 25% down payment is required. For jobs over $500 a 50% down payment is required.
8. Most typical work is backed by a 45 day warranty. This includes setups, as they can change with the weather and humidity.
9. Re-use of old parts or declining to replace a part, are not covered by my warranty and can’t be guaranteed to work properly. New parts are preferred especially when wiring guitars.
10. All repairs must be picked up within one week of the completion date unless other prior arrangements are made. Guitars not picked up on time will incur a storage fee of $20 per day. I have very limited space, and cannot comfortably store your instrument long term.
11. Any instrument left in the shop for 60 days past the date of completion will become the property of Chalmers Guitars and sold to recoup the cost of repairs. I will contact the owner of the guitar 3 times within that period, via phone and/or email, to encourage a timely pick up. The first communication will be made on the date of completion.
12. You have up to 24 hours before your appointment time to contact me and reschedule or cancel. If canceling/rescheduling after the 24 hour period, you may incur a $10 cancellation/rescheduling fee.
13. A $10 no show fee will be added to your bill for any appointment missed without prior contact for cancellation.
14. A rush/overtime charge may be applied to your total if you need your guitar back before the estimated completion date. Rush fees start at $120 per hour. Our overtime rate is $160 per hour. Guitar repair is unpredictable and we do our best to keep up with the timeline agreed upon during drop off but some factors are out of our control. We work very hard to do our best to get our guitar back to you as soon as possible.Your patience is much appreciated. Thanks!
15. I accept Cash, Venmo, Zelle and ApplePay as forms of payment.
